I recently found a great new source for free materials intended for crafters and artists to repurpose and use in their projects: FabMo!
Here is a bit of info from their website:
“FabMo is all-volunteer, donor supported organization in the San Francisco Bay Area that diverts beautiful designer materials (about 70 tons annually!) from their otherwise destination, the landfill. We regularly pick up samples of exquisite textiles, wallpapers, tiles, leathers, trims, etc., from designer showrooms and make them available for creative reuse by all interested parties on a donation basis. Select treasures for your creative reuse monthly at our warehouse in Mountain View, also at other locations in the Greater Bay Area.”
I made the drive to Mountain View on Thursday Morning and was a bit overwhelmed by the volume of really amazing supplies including fabric, tile, wallpaper, ceramic and glass tiles, to name a few. An hour and a half later I left 4 bags full of great finds, donated $20 and collapsed into my car, exhausted. Now I’m spending the weekend sorting it all out…
more crafty hints to come!
